Building and painting the starter sets for some club events and low key non competitive fun, and AOBR is next up! Must stay focused and not jump around!
I’ve painted a lot of miniatures over the years, and I don’t consider myself a “painter” at all- I don’t buy models to just paint and collect (nothing wrong with this at all), but only to push around and play with. That said, I’ve never painted Ultramarines before or orks for that matter. Goblins in fantasy, but that doesn’t count.
The plan? Same as IOB- get them done and out the door to a tabletop quality that I can expand on in the future, but at the same time not cry over as they chip and break for some really heavy plan and abuse.
Orks first!
Boots and pants, silver “armor”, guns, choppas, and then green skin, followed by a heavy wash of mud and some black highlights. First batch or ten boyz was kind of fun, nobz were ok, last batch of ten was torture for some reason. You crazy ork players out there, how do you do it? Everytime I painted a batch of them all I could hear was the English hooligan ork voices from Space Marine- “Spahz Mahrinez!”
Marines were, well, marines, which if you have any time in the hobby, even as a xeno player you have painted marines at some point, I cut through these guys like nothing!
Usual just black bases so I don’t have to worry about flock falling off, etc.
Time from start to finish after priming- a little over six hours.
I'm on fire!
