So here is what I’m running with Jawaballs for the Conflict GT doubles event on Friday night. Tactically it is our tried and true “doubles” formula which has worked really well in the past. JB is of course Blood Angels, and I’m usually Eldar, but with the changes to Blood Angels and JB’s current build + GK spam I think I can do a bit better running a compliment of Space Marines. Imagine that, Fritz running Space Marines in a tournament!?!
Our doubles formula is pretty straight forward- the Blood Angels are completely expendable- their goal is to build a list that is killy only and to self destruct on the opposition. Jawa will be totally focused on getting to grips with the other side and run amok in their ranks with Mepheston, assault marines, and the like. My job is to support his advance while holding objectives and completing the “mission”. My forces are tailored for support and survivability. One of the reasons this works well is because we both know our roles ahead of time and there are no hard feelings- usually at the end of the game Jawa only has a model or two left, nothing to get upset about, stick to the plan.
So who will be joining the Blood Angels in this great crusade? Death Guard of course, not that we could have Chaos siding with the Blood Angels, although apparently they are now best buds with Necrons of all strange things, but Chaos- never! So for this event my pre-heresy Death Guard are dropping in full force, using the generic marine codex- For Terra and Mortarion!"
“Sicarius” is leading them giving me a chance to re-roll that seize- very important to our plans, two full tactical squads ready to just camp as needed, maybe combat down, maybe not, a long range dev squad for support, and a group of terminators as backup to stop anything incoming to my tactical, or to drop with the Blood Angels if Jawa needs some reinforcements.
It’s been a while since I rolled with ‘marines- I’m not used to actually hitting on a 3+ and an armor save- imagine that!
