Army To The Tactics, Not Tactics To The Army!

While I am perhaps best known as a Saim-Hann player I also run a mechanized black Templar list with equal success- just not enough time to blog about both of them! The point is that mechanized tactics are equal on all levels and if you understand them you can adapt them to the army you play.

Here are my “Red Templars” facing off against a tyranid swarm army backed by a few monstrous creatures in an annihilation game. I castle up in the center since castling up on either the right or left would mean death with no way out. Give my opponent something to run towards as I shoot razorback heavy bolters fooling myself that I am doing something. Dreadnought to the right is trap as I send him forward hoping to then spring the terminators out of the land raider.

First swarm gets close and rhino hatch pops open with a flamer inside- hello!, followed by assault marines. Once the swarm crashes and I am up a kill point I move fast and scatter away in all three directions as fast as I can. Yes, not very space marine like, but it is playing the mission….

You scatter in three directions and then... what? Grab objectives? Does something killy? Have them try to catch up to you and doing something sneaky? You are leaving out the punch line :)

PS I found it highly ironic that the word verification for this comment was: "ranta".

Frtiz Red Templars in my oppinon are better than your saim-hann because you can play your turn 5 game and destroy your enemy
