Some advice and emailing with a fellow reader has me re-thinking my Farseer and Warlock bodyguard setup. I’ve dropped guide from my Farseer and gone with Mindwar and Eldrich storm along with a singing spear, and runes of warding (& jetbike of course). With her are three Warlocks on jetbikes with singing spears, 2 destructors, and embolden.
I’m still running my mindwar/headhunting tricks and of course using the mobility of the jetbikes to effectively tank hunt with the spears and attack isolated units by blasting them with the destructors and storm. However, the real gem (thanks Peter) is with embolden allowing me to re-roll leadership tests. No more failing psychic powers or perils of the warp as a psychic test is leadership based.

Erm Psychic tests aren't leadership tests. Sorry to burst your bubble. Its a psychic test simply as. It just uses your LD characteristic to test for it. You DO NOT get re-rolls for failed psychic tests, just leadership tests.
I feel like such a bad guy now. But it does state the difference in the warhammer 40k 4th edition rule book. Try that at a games event you'll land yourself with some harsh words for some of the hardcore players I'm sure.
Hmm, you are correct with the wording in the psychic test of the rulebook. Oh well, would have been great to use if I could- back to runes I guess.
Read the leadership section of the rule book. I'm pretty sure it says, "leadership tests, like psychic tests... blah blah blah"
The 4th ed rule book calls it out unquestioningly. I'll post the page, when I have my rulebook in front of me.

Quote from rulebook p52 regarding psychic powers and perils of the warp: "...when taking the Leadership test to use a psychic power..."
I literally have my rule book highlighted, as it comes up occasionally.

I'll look into this later when I can, but even if you could surely you'd still suffer from perils of the warp, the same as suffering from over heating re-rolls. The weapon over heats from the first roll but you still get to roll to hit again, another failed roll does not not matter and is ignored. So that would be another psychic test just for the shake of you rolling a 11 or 12....well with a council Embolden should be mandatory, The FAQ says nothing so if the is still doubt you can always call problems number and ask if this is correct or not.
here we go
Page 52 regarding the use of psychic powers, sorry it took so long eheh.
"In order to use one of his powers the psyker must make a psychic test by rolling equal to or under his leadership on 2D6."
The reason for it being mentioned later as a leadership test is because of the characteristic being used. Like tests that involve toughness, etc.
