Saim-Hann Eldar List Changes

Ever evolving my tactics I have come to drop my bright lances completely favoring witch blades and singing spears for my anti-tank. In my current 1750 list there are 2 BL vypers and a BL wave serpent or falcon. Hitting on 4+ with a single shot isn’t that great even with the lance rule and S 8 hit. I’ve found the speed of my jetbikes lets me get to the side and rear of a tanks armor to then hit it with a S 9 hit in either/and the shooting and assault with my witch blade or singing spear.

Which then brings up star cannons vs. scatter laser. Again hitting on a 4+ I get two shots with the star cannons vs. four shots with the scatter laser. Both are strength six, the cannon doesn’t allow marine saves the laser does. With the laser I can pump out more shots- 24 in total if I concentrate all my vypers on a single squad. More dice rolls more lost models given the equal strength or go with the AP 2 of the star cannon. I’ve been leaning towards the scatter laser.

Fritz,
I fired off some more Math-Hammer this morning regarding this. hope it helps you make your decision easier.

The Scatter Lasers would also really help out against bugs and IG.

DJ, thanks- I got the .pdf. Seems the star cannons do come ahead by a bit. I figured the 4 shots of the scatter laser would kill more even with an AP 6.

Master Darksol, the scatter lasers did make a difference agasint in my recent vs. tyranids game, so def. the way to go. Which brings up a question to ask for me next post.

I've been using lots of scatter lasers and shuriken canon upgrades for my vypers and gunships rather effectively against all sorts of infantry even marines.

The idea is to make them make lots of saves and even with a +3, most of the time, they can't get away with half the survivors from say 27 S6 shots, coming out from only 2 squad of 2 vypers, which can be used to flank the enemy. Again concentrate fire is the key here.

Hi Fritz, it's been a while since I posted. Apologies for that.

I think that a couple of Brightlances are worth taking but I would probably prefer to have them on a Wave Serpent as you get the benefit of being Twin-Linked. Or, if you used any, I'd use two them on a War Walker.

Personally I would never consider them on a Falcon. Due to their Strength you cannot fire both a Bright Lance and the Pulse Laser in the same phase. Better to stick a Scatter Laser on the Falcon to make it more versitile.

i was also thinking of taking out the vyper mounted bright lances and replacing them with starcannons. and changing my wave serpent to be armed with a TL bright lance.

John, I would agree- playing my current list for some time, 2 brightlance vypers look good on paper, but with only two shots hitting on 4+ they are a lot of points to miss half the time- I have dropped them for scatter lasers, if the BL's were twin linked on the vyper then maybe that would be a bit different.
